Privacy Policy

Effective date: 24 October 2026
Applies to: LIQverify Android app (liq.liqverify.app) on Google Play. A website/API may be self-hosted later; this policy still covers that product when offered.

1. Who we are

LIQverify (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides tools to verify Ethiopian bank and wallet payment receipts. Today the public product is the Android app on Google Play. Web and API builds may be self-hosted; they are covered by this same policy.

2. Scope

This Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal data when you:

No custom domain is required for this policy. The Android app and this GitHub Pages document are the public surfaces today. Backend URLs are configured by the operator (for example a development server or a future production host).

LIQverify is not a bank and is not affiliated with CBE, Telebirr, or other providers. Verification requests are checked against the relevant provider systems (or our relay) only to complete the check you start.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Account & identity

3.2 Verification & receipt data (you provide)

3.3 App & usage data

3.4 Billing

3.5 What we do not collect

4. Android permissions (Play Store)

The LIQverify Android app may request:

Permission Why When
Internet Talk to LIQverify servers to verify payments and sync your account Always required for core features
Camera Scan receipt QR codes and capture receipt photos Only when you tap Scan / Capture
Photos / media images (and legacy storage on older Android) Let you pick a receipt image or PDF from your device Only when you tap Upload / Gallery / PDF

You can deny camera or photo access; manual entry of reference numbers still works. You can revoke permissions anytime in Android Settings → Apps → LIQverify → Permissions.

5. How we use information

7. Sharing & third parties

We share data only as needed to run the service:

We do not sell personal information to data brokers or advertisers.

8. Retention

You may request deletion of your account and associated history by contacting us (see Contact). We may retain limited records if required for legal, security, or dispute reasons.

9. Security

We use HTTPS for data in transit, access controls on servers, and signed sessions. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Protect your device, do not share API keys, and sign out on shared devices.
